With easily one of the weirdest music videos I’ve seen in 2021, Keinemusik has left a great impression on me. The Keinemusik project is a collaboration between three musicians – &ME, Rampa and Adam Port. The music is strictly electronic but has a strange cross over between seedy Soft Cell, rigid German EDM and a little Kraftwerk thrown in too. Their new single ‘Pay to Play’ showcases this cross over style and follows on four years on from their debut album “You Are Safe”.
It’s the music video that really seals the deal for me and takes the phrase “ear worm” literally. People place worms into their ears and start contorting and worm dancing around using weird scanning effects. The idea is that being infected by the ear worm of the song can take you over and then you become the worm itself. It is funny, a little squeamish and a riot to watch. Enjoy the video, directed by Max Siedentopf, below. The forthcoming album from Keinemusic will feature a much wider palette of dancefloor strangeness but as of yet, there is no due date or title for the project.
