‘Seasonal Optimism’ by Steady Holiday is my anthem for Spring 2025

With this weekend being the first one in 2025 to actually contain any sunshine whatsoever in the UK, it felt like divine timing that Steady Holiday shared her new track. ‘Seasonal Optimism’ contains everything a quintessential Steady Holiday song normally has. It has a sweet, endearing breezy hook that reminds me of 60’s rock, but the lyrics themselves are often far sadder or intense. The music sounds in full bloom with tambourine, trumpets, jangly guitars, and catchy vocal riffs – it is perfect for a fresh new Spring. Hilariously, in her newsletter, Steady Holiday said she noticed the song shares musical DNA with Kermit’s ‘Rainbow Connection’. She’d been singing both songs acapella before committing the single to music with guitar and then the rest happened later.

So, with Kermit by our side, we salute a new era for Steady Holiday. The single is out now with an incredibly relatable music video for anyone who has dealt with flatpack furniture. It perfectly showcases the idea of struggling upstream against the tide and finding a new day, or new perspective can put the wind back in your sails again. Hopefully, this means a new album is on its way soon. For more information visit the Steady Holiday website.
