Explore the darker dream pop and electronic side of 2026’s first chaotic months

20 hidden gems to rage against the world with.

The latest radio show from Higher Plain Music takes 20 tracks from releases across the first four months of 2026. I feel like this year has been complete chaos and full of upheaval. I’ve noticed this is reflected in my music tastes. I’ve found more solace in harsh and caustic electronica, and angry dream pop or alternative than usual this year. There’s been a wave of politically and emotionally charged releases, and it feels like the tides and stakes continue to rise. To balance that out, I’ve also embraced piano ambience and numbing sound design to cool off.

This new radio show largely showcases the electronic, alternative, dream pop, and shoegazer side of my music purchases so far this year. Most of the music showcased here, I haven’t actually reviewed yet, but they are on my list to shout out over the coming months. You’ll hear from plenty of hidden gems, such as the cellotronica of Bison Rouge, the heart-aching acoustic folk of Natalie Jane Hill, the percussive machine of the FVL., and the desolate shoegazing and rage of Nothing. I hope you enjoy.

I host my radio shows on Mixcloud as they pay royalties to artists.
