Songwriter Tim Segreto and producer Dub Sonata are eclectic electronica duo Evening Elevator. Their sound is a mixture of dream pop, singer-songwriter vocals and hip hop tendencies thrown in for good measure. The closest thing I’ve heard to them would be early Adam Fielding. On new single ‘Higher’ we have soft and plinky piano, ascending synths that rise up the octaves and dreamy vocals that glide over chunky beats. What really tickled me with the single is that by calling it ‘chill out’ you are missing half of the point. There are a lot of layers and depth going on that you can explore and I don’t think chill out quite covers it.
Making just as much of an excellent impressing is the music video. Evening Elevator has used a selection of hi altitude footage of sweeping and majestic landscapes of the world to help you ascend higher. It is really effective when paired with the lush pitch-bending synths. It is easily one of my favourite music videos of 2020 and it matches the track perfectly. ‘Higher’ is available now on all digital platforms. Enjoy the superb video below.
